About This Site
Feral and Functioning is a blog about surviving life when it doesn’t go according to plan—and telling the truth about it.
It was born out of being tired.
Tired of biting my tongue. Tired of pretending.
Tired of perfectionism.
Tired of surviving things I never signed up for and still being expected to smile sweetly and keep it all together—but failing miserably.
Mostly, it came from the realization that I have a lot to say—and really, no one to say it to. So I stopped waiting for an invitation and made my own table.
This isn’t a lifestyle blog, a highlight reel, or a self-help pep talk wrapped in pastel fonts and empty platitudes.
It’s a space for the messy middle. For hard-earned wisdom. For stories that might shake your spirit but still point to something higher.
I write about the stuff most people don’t want to talk about—cancer, stroke, grief, burnout, PTSD, government work, parenting, and all the quiet unravelings that happen when you’re just trying to make it through the day with your soul intact.
Sometimes it’s heavy. Sometimes it’s humorous (I hope). Sometimes it’s both—because God’s got a wicked sense of humor, too.
You won’t find curated photos, affiliate links, or toxic positivity here.
What you will find is me, doing my best to tell the truth, hold onto grace, and keep my faith when nothing makes sense.
If you’re looking for permission to be a little feral, a little sacred, and still fully human—this is it.
